THE OWNER of the famous Hell’s Kitchen in Castlerea is calling on Roscommon County Council to turn his facility the county museum. Sean Browne’s railway museum and bar in Castlerea boasts the largest private collection of rail memorabilia in Ireland. However, since the pub closed down tourists and rail buffs have contacted Sean to express their disappointment at the collection “going to waste”. The pub boasts an A55 diesel locomotive, the pride of the CIE post-steam fleet in the Fifties, in the heart of its lounge area. Sean first started collecting items for the museum in the 1970s, but it was in 1998 when the train was relocated to the middle of the pub, that it really became a tourist attraction.
