One of the youngest candidates set to contest the next General Election will be Sinn Fein’s candidate for Roscommon/ East Galway. Twenty-two-year-old Claire Kerrane from Tibohine was selected as the Sinn Fein candidate at a selection convention in Durkin’s of Ballaghaderreen on Sunday. Daughter of Angela and Gerry Kerrane, Tibohine, Claire was unanimously selected after no other names went forward for the selection convention. She is currently studying for a Masters in Education at NUI, Galway. She has been a member of Sinn Fein from her late teens. The Party will be hoping that this young lady can make real inroads in the new constituency of Roscommon/ East Galway after they lost vote getter Martin Kenny to the new boundary of Sligo/Leitrim. MEP Matt Carthy acted as MC for the recent selection convention in Ballaghaderreen while Pearse Doherty, Finance Spokesperson for Sinn Féin and TD for the Constituency of Donegal South West was the guest speaker.
