With all of the boxes tallied in the Roscommon Municipal District, Fianna Fail’s Paschal Fitzmaurice looks set to exceed the quota and take the first seat in the Roscommon Municipal District. The Castlerea based Councillor is on 1,940 or 20.21% followed by Independent candidate and former Councillor Tony Waldron on 1,257 or 13.10% followed Councillor Kathleen Shanagher on 1,248 or 13.00%. Both Fianna Fail’s Marty McDermott and Orla Leyden are on 1,062 and 1,026 or 11.06% or 10.69% respectively. While it is too early to call the overall result, it would appear the final seat will be a battle between sitting Independent Councillor Nigel Dineen on 962 or 10.02% and Fine Gael’s Gerry Coffey on 816or 8.50%. Sitting Independent Councillor, Fuerty’s Dominick Connolly stands on 581 or 6.05% with Sinn Fein’s Seamus O’Brien on 448 or 4.67%. The projected quota is 1,372 in this six seat area.
