Roscommon GAA has warned businesses receiving calls to contribute €150 towards a poster that it has not been approved by Roscommon County Board.

“The only way to financially support Roscommon GAA is via the Club Rossie members draw or Club Rossie BusinessMembership.

“By giving somebody money to appear on a poster, you are just supporting them — not the county team, not the works in Hyde Park, not the coaching and underage development work we are doing in football, hurling and camogie, not the establishment of the Dermot Earley Centre of Excellence for games development,” said Roscommon County Board Treasurer David O’Connor.

Meanwhile, planning permission for the works needed to enable Dr. Hyde Park to host future Connacht finals has been lodged by Roscommon County Board with Roscommon County Council.

A meeting of Roscommon County Board on Thursday last heard that it is the county board’s intention, subject to objections, that the works will be completed in time for next year’s senior provincial football championship where Roscommon will be due home games against both Galway and Mayo, if drawn to play them.
