It is the end of an era for the village of Brideswell as its local post office will close its doors for the final time this Wednesday, July 31st, when the current postmaster retires.

The South Roscommon post office has been open and serving the local community for more than 80 years. Post office services will continue to be available from Curraghboy Post Office and other post offices in the area. In a statement, An Post said that all Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection (DEASP) customer payments would be transferred to the nearby Curraghboy Post Office.

“DEASP customers who wish to use an alternative post office can do so by making an application to the relevant DEASP Scheme Office,” An Post said.
