Roscommon winners at the Community Games National Area, Volunteer and Media awards in County Carlow on Saturday night last.

 

Roscommon areas and volunteers were rewarded for their commitment and dedication to Community Games at the annual Aldi Community Games National Area, Volunteer and Media awards in the Mount Wolseley Hotel, Tullow, County Carlow on Saturday night.

The Roscommon Herald was runner-up to the Carlow Nationalist for its coverage of Community Games throughout 2019. Sports Editor Ian Cooney accepted the award on behalf of the Herald. Bernie Ryan was runner-up in the PRO of the Year category. Yvonne Hanbury accepted the award on her behalf.

Ballaghaderreen were the Connacht winners in the Large Area category, just losing out to Doora Barefield for the overall award.

Ann Keane accepted the Small Area award on behalf of Ballinameen/Breedogue Community Games. Marie Baggott, Castlerea Community Games, received a well-deserved Adult Volunteer award, while Mohamed Sammour, Ballaghaderreen Community Games, was presented with his Youth Volunteer award.

Knockcroghery/St. John’s Community Games were presented with a special media award for its promotion of Community Games.
