The CEO of Roscommon County Council has said he has “full confidence” in fire personnel throughout the county.

The CEO, Eugene Cummins, made his comments at Monday’s plenary meeting of Roscommon County Council.

The CEO said the county’s fire personnel “continue to provide an effective service. I don’t want any sense that service personnel don’t have my full support and confidence.”

The CEO did not discuss the future of Castlerea Fire Station, which has been closed for almost three years, and which is currently subject to an independent review. He did not give any timescale as to when the service may become operational again.
