A planning application has been lodged for a proposed solar farm in the Drum area of South Roscommon. The development will cost probably in excess of €15m and, if granted permission, it could generate enough power for approximately 10,000 households.
The project, known as TDC Community Solar Park Limited, will see solar panels on ground-mounted frames installed in a site area of 70 hectares in the townlands Taduff West, Taduff East, Creagh and Curraghalee. Included in the development, the project will see a 19 single storey inverter/transformer stations, and one single storey customer substation.
A decision on the project is expected by March 26th.
