Gardai have been carrying out speed checks around the country as part of National Slow Down Day.

 

Drivers continue to be caught breaking the speed limit in Tulsk as part of An Garda Siochana’s National Slow Down Day.

This afternoon, a driver was caught doing 82 km per hour in a 50 km per hour zone on the N5 at Carrownageelaun, Tulsk. Earlier this morning, a driver was caught doing 60 km per hour on the same stretch of road.

Since 7 a.m. on Friday, An Garda Síochána and GoSafe have checked the speed of 87,350 vehicles, with 693 vehicles detected travelling in excess of the applicable speed limit.

Another driver was caught doing 73 km per hour in a 50 km per hour zone in the Deerpark area of Ballinasloe, following on from another driver clocking 66 km earlier today.

As part of National Slow Down Day, An Garda Síochána and the Road Safety Authority are continuing to remind drivers of the dangers of speeding, and are urging motorists to drive carefully and to abide by the speed limits.
