‘Nine year-old Nicole Freyne from Aughulustia, Ballaghaderreen should have been making her First Holy Communion at Fairymount Church last Saturday.
To mark the special day Nicole, a Second Class pupil at The Don NS, Cortoonmore, had picked out a special white dress to wear. The time for First Holy Communion had been set for 11.30 a.m.. However, at 11 a.m. a cow, owned by Nicole and her brother Luke started to calf. There was no time to take off the dress. Nicole and Luke gave their father, Adrian, a helping hand as ‘Boris’ and ‘Trump’ made their way into the world. ‘Boris’ arrived first and while they were looking after him they “noticed more feet” and ‘Trump’ “emerged with back legs first”. The Herald is reliably informed that “it was a big pull as he was very content where he was”.
Nicole and Luke, daughter and son of Adrian and Collette Freyne, are delighted with their new arrivals. Collette says that “maybe it was a good job the First Holy Communion was cancelled as we would never have got her to the church on time”.
