A host of strength and conditioning experts from Roscommon and outside the county will feature in a zoom meeting this evening that will try to give local coaches guidance on how to get their players back to fitness in advance of the resumption of club activity.

Dave Mannix of Roscommon GAA, Shane Monaghan of Roscommon LGFA, Ciarán Keogh (Offaly hurling/Setanta College) and Michael Frawley (Westmeath hurling) will address topics such as how to set up training sessions in the new environment, how to balance the different needs of players who are close to full fitness and others who are some way away, and how to maximise the short window between now and the start of club games.

“What we’ll do is largely based around helping coaches to plan warmups and conditioning sessions. Most club managers don’t have strength and conditioning coaches at their disposal and hopefully we’ll help to answer some of their queries on how to deal with the new guidelines and what is effectively a very short preseason over the next few weeks. Ladies and men’s teams, football and hurling, or even coaches of other sports should all be able to take something from it” said Shane Monaghan this afternoon.

The session gets underway this evening at 7pm.
