The Roscommon and District Football League has lived through both dynastic and democratic periods in the last 15 years. Between 2006/07 and 2012/13, six of the seven league titles were won by Ballinasloe Town, but few would have imagined the competitive spell that was to follow as five different clubs (Dysart, Ballinasloe Town, Castlerea Celtic, Ballymoe and St. Peter’s) shared the next five Premier Division titles.

Now the league is again at a crossroads and in a little under five hours, we’ll know if St. Peter’s have made it three wins on the bounce or if Castlerea Celtic have got the point (or three) that they needed to win their first title since 2015/16, and just their second since the middle of the last decade.

Government restrictions mean that admission to the West Athlone venue is by ticket only, but stay tuned to the Roscommon Herald on twitter and facebook tonight for details of how the action goes.
