The Ballaghaderreen FC team, with joint managers Brendan McGreal and James Holton, that overcame Mervue United B 4-3 in their recent TP Brennan Connacht Shield match. 




Roscommon and District League teams Castlerea Celtic, Ballinasloe Town and Ballaghaderreen FC have reached the quarter-finals of the Connacht Cup and Shield, where they will play St. Bernard’s FC, Westport United or Tuam, and Kiltimagh/Knock United respectively.

Castlerea Celtic recovered from their league shootout disappointment against St. Peter’s with a 3-1 victory against Conn Rangers in their last 16 tie at Celtic Park. Darren Clabby, Gerry Ward and team captain Jarlath Geraghty grabbed the goals.

They now face St. Bernard’s, who surprisingly knocked out St. Peter’s in the last round, in Celtic Park on Sunday, August 9th, at 2 p.m..

Ballinasloe Town will face a trip to either Westport United or Tuam. The former Roscommon and District League kingpins defeated Mayo Superleage side Ballyglass in the last 16, thanks to goals from Callum McKelvey, Mark Duffy and Brian Burke.

Meanwhile, in the last eight of the Connacht Shield, Ballaghaderreen FC will host Kiltimagh/Knock United on Sunday week in the Community Park, Ballaghaderreen, at 2 p.m..

Brendan McGreal and James Holton’s side enjoyed a thrilling 4-3 victory against Mervue United B in the last round. Reece Keenan was Ballaghaderreen’s hero, scoring the winner with 12 minutes remaining, after Danny Browne had grabbed a hat-trick for his side earlier in the game.
