A new fund aims to reach young or novice anglers

Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI) is inviting applications from groups offering angling opportunities to young people and novices.

The new “Angling for All” fund, worth €120,000, opened for applications today and will close on October 13th.

Application are invited from any group or facility that is engaged in developing novice angling in Ireland. These could include angling representative organisations, angling clubs, existing Angling for Youth Development Ireland (AFYDI) clubs, potential angling hubs looking for a start-up grant, local community groups, and not-for-profit organisations.

Head of Business Development at the IFI, Suzanne Campion, said the new initiative assists angling representative organisations and clubs in engaging with anglers  within disadvantaged sectors.

“Angling is not just a sport; it can offer young people new experiences and opportunities. It can also help develop a young person’s skills, self-confidence, motivation whilst promoting physical exercise and good health,” she added.
