The GAA has called a virtual meeting with county board chairpersons across the country this evening, amid increasing speculation around the remainder of the intercounty season.
The rumour mill has been in overdrive on Thursday, suggesting that the remaining Allianz League fixtures, due to get underway on the weekend after next, may be deferred in light of the deteriorating Covid-19 situation across the island.
Earlier on Thursday, Fermanagh manager Ryan McMenamin said that his squad were “in no shape” to play Clare on Sunday week, following an outbreak of Covid-19 among the panel.
The Armagh senior footballers, who are due to host Roscommon on Saturday week, are currently in quarantine following an outbreak in their squad.
It is expected that this evening’s meeting will discuss a wide range of issues relating to the rest of the intercounty season, and further clarification surrounding this year’s leagues and championships will be issued.
