A new local stop smoking service is available to help you to quit smoking. A Stop Smoking Advisor can offer you free expert support throughout your journey to become an ex-smoker as well as advice on stop smoking medications that help relieve withdrawal symptoms. This new service is provided by the HSE Health Promotion & Improvement team, Community Healthcare West.

Just like flu, coronavirus infection may be more severe in people who smoke. The good news is that quitting smoking helps build up your natural resistance to all types of infections including coronavirus. It also helps you recover from COVID-19 and other infections should you get them. Take the 28 day Stop Smoking Challenge this winter and reduce your risk of coronavirus. If you stop smoking for 28 days, you are five times more likely to quit for good.

You don’t have to do it alone. Taking up the support of a HSE Stop Smoking Advisor and using stop smoking medications will give you the best possible chance to quit for good.  Increase your chances of quitting by calling your local HSE Stop Smoking Service covering Galway, Mayo and Roscommon on 091 737262  or email [email protected].You will be matched with a Stop Smoking Advisor in your area who can support you by telephone, online by smartphone or computer, whichever suits you best.
