Gardai in Roscommon say they are continuing to operate Operations Fanacht and Navigation in efforts to combat the spread of Covid-19.

Gardaí in Roscommon are urging the public to exercise all precautions as the spread of the Covid-19 virus continues continues to surge, despite the county having one of the lowest outbreak rates in the country.

Gardaí have confirmed that Operation Fanacht will continue across the county as the force continues to have an extra presence on the county’s roads.

Gardaí are advising the public to remain within their 5km travel area and not to leave their home unless for absolutely essential business or for emergencies. They have also advised the public that when out, social distancing should be observed at all times.

The force has also confirmed ‘Operation Navigation’ whereby Gardaí are conducting licensed premises inspections, is ongoing. Under level 5 restrictions all pubs are prohibited from serving alcohol and remain closed.

Gardaí say their increased presence on the county’s roads will result in increased patrols and checkpoints and are appealing to motorists and other road users for their continued co-operation and patience.
