Roscommon Sports and Classic Car (RSCC) club will raffle a classic Audi TT as part of a major fundraiser early next month.
RSCC was formed in June 2019 and is affiliated with the Irish Vintage Society. They are a group of car enthusiasts who love all things automotive, provided “they are very old or very sleek!”
The club normally runs fundraisers throughout the year, such as Christmas raffles and various sponsorship initiatives, to cover the cost of its “Day of Automotive History” event in the grounds of Strokestown Park House.
The event is due to be held in August this year. The quality of cars on display is second to none — Ferraris, Jaguars, Mercedes, Corvettes and Buicks share the stage with Triumphs, Toyotas, Rovers, Fiats, Fords, Austins, etc.
This year, due to the Covid-19 restrictions, the club is focusing on fundraising, with a top prize that is sure to attract plenty of interest.
“There are a lot of people in County Roscommon with vintage sports cars. The interest is huge.
“Normally, we might do six to eight runs a year in convoy, visiting different parts of the county, stopping for a bite to eat somewhere and get to know each other. Obviously, that can’t happen at the moment, so we’re using this lull to explore other avenues,” Club PRO Dave Noone told the Herald.
A group of six committee members “chipped in” and purchased the 2002 Audi TT, and Dave is hoping that the draw will be very successful.
“We have a very healthy membership and we don’t charge into any of our shows, so we’re hoping that people will row in behind this draw,” he continued.
The draw will be held online on Sunday, May 2nd, at 1 p.m.. Tickets cost €10 each and are available on the club’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/rsccclub.
The club thanks everyone who has already purchased tickets and would like to wish everyone the best of luck in the draw.
