Denis Buckley leads out Connacht against Benetton for his 200th cap last weekend.

Connacht prop Denis Buckley has reflected on “all the emotions sport has to offer” after his 200th cap for the province was soured by a serious knee injury last weekend.

The Roscommon native sustained the blow after less than a minute into Saturday’s 20-12 PRO14 Rainbow Cup defeat against Benetton in Italy.

Yesterday, Buckley took to social media to thank everyone for their good wishes alongside revealing the heartbreak he felt after picking up the injury.

“Got to experience all the emotions sport has to offer in about 40 seconds at the weekend.

“Such a proud moment for me to lead the team out for my 200th Connacht Rugby game, something I thought I’d never achieve.

“Then, 32 seconds in, to hear the cracks in my knee, I knew it was serious and the heartbreak that followed! Excited for the challenge of the recovery and looking forward to being back soon.

“Thanks to everyone for the messages before and after the game,” he said.
