Aoife O’Rourke’s hugely successful Olympics qualifiers campaign has come to an end after she was beaten on points by world champion Lauren Price in the middleweight semi-final at the Grand Dome in Paris on Monday afternoon.

The Castlerea boxer can still bask in the glory of securing Olympic qualification and a bronze medal at these championships after another typically brave performance.

While O’Rourke was on the front foot for the majority of the contest, the Welsh boxer landed the cleaner punches throughout.

It was another huge learning experience for the Tarmon middleweight who will return home with a bronze medal and as an Olympian with the Irish team on Wednesday.
