The Roscommon senior men’s and intermediate ladies’ team will play their most important games of the season so far on what is likely to be the hottest day of the year to date.

Anthony Cunningham’s senior footballers make the trip to Armagh for their relegation play-off, while Diane O’Hora’s intermediate ladies’ footballers take on Laois in their Division Three League semi-final in Tang, County Westmeath.

Met Éireann is forecasting that Sunday will be the warmest day of the year so far with 26c possible in the east of the country, while parts of the midlands and north-east could hit 24c.

Clashes between Roscommon and Armagh in sizzling hot temperatures aren’t unusual, with the counties locking horns in Portlaoise during the 2018 heatwave — a game Roscommon won by 2-22 to 1-19.

Hopefully, it’s a good omen for Sunday.
