The Covid-19 seven-day incidence rate in County Roscommon has dropped from being the third highest in the country in recent weeks to now being the third lowest.
In the seven day period from September 17th to midnight on September 23rd 72 cases of Covid-19 were reported in the county, the lowest number in weeks. Roscommon now has a 5-day moving average of 10 cases and its seven-day incidence rate per 100,000 of the population is 111.6, just ahead of Wexford and Wicklow. In the same period Leitrim reported 61 cases; Mayo, 323; Galway, 372; Sligo, 96; Longford, 101 and Westmeath, 203.
Nationally the Department of Health has been notified of a further 1,335 new cases of Covid-19. The number of people in hospital now stands at 282, which is a drop of 15 since yesterday. Of those patients, 65 are being treated in ICU, which is up four since yesterday.
