Roscommon County Council has given notice of its decision to close a 450 metre stretch of road in the county town for more than a month.
The local authority said that the L-7040-0 Lanesborough Street will be closed for 450 metres from the N61/N63 Lanesborough Road roundabout to the junction with the L-7041-0 Mart Road from October 25th to December 10th.
“Traffic will be diverted via the N61 Circular Road on to the L-7041-0 Mart Road and vice versa,” it said.
The reason for the road closure is to allow the laying of sewers along the public road as part of the Roscommon Town Main Drainage Scheme.
“All necessary approach signage and diversion signage will be used at the required locations as per Traffic Management Plan,” the local authority said. “Residents will be contacted and notified directly by the contractor in advance of the closure.”
