One of Roscommon’s Local Electoral areas has seen a significant increase in its incidence of Covid-19 cases over the last seven days, according to the latest data released this evening.

Athlone LEA, with a population of 19,979, recorded 273 cases between November 2nd and 15th, giving it a 14-day incidence rate per 100,000 of 1366.4. The corresponding national average stands at 1,160.7

A week ago, Athlone’s 14-day incidence rate stood at 850.9, having recorded 170 cases between October 26th and November 8th. Between October 19th and November 1st, the area recorded 138 cases.

Boyle LEA, with a population of 21,831, recorded 201 cases between November 2nd and 15th, giving it a 14-day incidence rate of 934.5.

A week earlier, its incidence rate stood at 751.2, having recorded 164 cases between October 26th and November 8th.

Roscommon LEA, with a population of 22,743, recorded 185 cases between November 2nd and 15th, giving it a 14-day incidence rate of 813.8.

Seven days ago, its incidence rate was 712.6, having recorded 162 cases between October 26th and November 8th.

Nationally, County Roscommon has the lowest 14-day incidence rate in the country and the third-lowest seven-day incidence rate.
