Roscommon’s Covid cases are continuing to climb.

According to the Health Protection Surveillance Centre, 416 new cases were confirmed in the county last week, giving a 7-day incidence rate of 644.5 per 100,000 of the population. Roscommon’s 5-day moving average from last Wednesday to Sunday was 61.

While the county’s 7-day incidence rate is lower than the national average, 663.5, it does represent an increase on previous weeks. During the first week of the month, Roscommon had the second-lowest 7-day incidence rate in the country. It has now the 12th highest.

In neighbouring counties last week, Westmeath saw 870 new cases, Longford 352, Offaly 528, Leitrim 204, Mayo 804, and Sligo 378.

In local hospitals, as of 8pm last night, Portiuncula University Hospital had six Covid patients, Sligo University Hospital seven, GUH 19, and MUH 12.

There were three Covid patients in ICU in Portiuncula as of last night, two in MUH, SUH, and GUH.
