Roscommon recorded one of the lowest temperatures in the country last night.
The Met Éireann weather station at Mount Dillon recorded a low of -2.8 degrees, the second-lowest temperature in the country.
The lowest temperature, -3.1 degrees, was recorded at Gurteen in Tipperary.
Today will be dry with sunny spells in Connacht, the cloudiest conditions will be over north Connacht. Highest temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees.
It will be dry to begin tonight and mostly cloudy. Rain will move in from the west later in the night, spreading across much of the province by dawn. It will be cold with lowest temperatures of -2 to +4 degrees. It will be coldest towards the midlands where there may be a touch of frost.
