The Health Protection Surveillance Centre has today been notified of 3,692 confirmed cases of Covid-19.

In addition, on Sunday, January 23, 4,347 people registered a positive antigen test through the HSE portal. As of 8 am today, 885 Covid-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 76 are in ICU.

According to the latest Health Protection Surveillance Centre figures, between January 9th and January 15th, 1,225 new cases in the county were identified and the median age was 33. During the same period, Westmeath saw 4,576 cases, Longford 1,232, Leitrim 764, Galway 7,066, Mayo 2,555, Sligo 1,296, and Offaly 1,832.

However, the HPSC said data by county should be interpreted with caution.

“During this surge period, data validation is limited. In some instances, the county is inferred from the county of the test centre or the county of the laboratory, and may not be the county of residence of the case,” the centre said.
