Plans for the construction of a brand new Lidl store on the Dublin Road have been lodged with the local authority in Longford.
The new plans would see the existing single-story demolished and be replaced with a new supermarket.
Plans submitted to Longford County Council by LIDL Ireland GmbH include a new footstore with an ancillary off-license, relocated vehicular access along the Dublin Road, roof mounted solar panels, a covered trolley bay, public lighting and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
It is expected that a decision will be made later this summer.
