A Roscommon athlete will attempt to run the race of her life this evening when she goes for gold in the final of the 400 metres at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Slovakia.
Hollie Kilroe from Ballybride, Roscommon Town, made the top eight for the final after qualifying from her heat in a time of 56.61 earlier this week, which was a new Personal Best for the Suck Valley AC athlete.
The 16-year-old will compete in the green of Ireland in the final at 5.20 p.m. later today.
Daughter of Fintan and Siobhán Kilroe, Hollie is the current U-17 national indoor and outdoor champion for 400 metres.
