A hardware store in County Roscommon is to remain closed today as the funeral Mass takes place of a much-loved member of staff.

The funeral Mass takes place this afternoon of Raymond Neary, Tonycurneen, Scramogue, County Roscommon and formerly of Slatta, Kilglass. Mr Neary was a member of staff at Strokestown Hardware and the store will be closed until tomorrow.

“As a mark of respect to our dearest colleague and close friend Ray Neary RIP our store will be closed Wednesday from 10am until Thursday at 8am. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ray’s family and friends at this very difficult time.
May Ray’s gentle soul rest in peace,” management wrote on social media.
Mr Neary, a married father of two, died on Saturday last. St. Barry’s GFC offered condolences to Mr Neary’s family on his sad passing.
“Ray was a quiet but a popular presence to those who met him around the club, as his sons Liam and Conor have become established in our underage teams over the last few years. We offer our sympathies and our support to the lads, to Ray’s wife Caoimhe, his mother Mary Rose, and to all of the Neary family.”

Mr Neary will be missed by his loving wife Caoimhe, cherished sons Liam and Conor, heartbroken mother Mary Rose (Slatta), brother Paul, sister Clare, brother-in-law Ciaran Shiel, sister-in-law Carmel Canning, parents-in-law Myles and Mary Walsh (Elphin), nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, neighbours, work colleagues in Strokestown hardware and a large circle of friends.

His funeral mass takes place in St. Anne’s Church, Scramogue at 12noon with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
