Plans to build a new community park at the old school house in Ballintubber have been given the go-ahead by Roscommon County Council.
Ballintubber Development Association was successful in its application to build a new community park, which will comprise walk-ways, seating, shelter, a play area along with a multi-use games area.
The works will also include landscaping, perimeter fencing and the demolition of an existing storage shed at the rear of the building, which is a protected structure.
Local councillor, Tony Waldron said the granting of planning permission was great news for the local area. “These new facilities will be a wonderful addition for the community of Ballintubber and surrounding areas and will further enhance village life,” he said.
The funding for the works was allocated under the Town and Village Renewal scheme.
