The Creggs squad that captured the club’s first Connacht J1A League title since 1996 on Sunday.

 

 

Celebrations are continuing in Creggs RFC after the club’s first Connacht Junior 1A League title in 27 years at the Sportsground on Sunday.

The team, coached by Tony Dolan, Kolo Kiripati and Mike Diffley, defeated Connermara, 26-15, at the home of Connacht Rugby to claim the title for the first time since 1996.

Tries from Shane Purcell, Danny Arnold, Brian Donoghue and Mark Dowd, alongside a Player of the Match performance from Eoghan Coyle, handed Creggs the sweetest of victories.

Captain Brian Diffley, in his acceptance speech, spoke of the commitment which saw up to 60 players fighting for places on the first team.

The team were welcomed home to Creggs on Sunday evening where they received a wonderful reception to cap off a memorable day in the club’s history.
