Pat Doory is the new manager of the Éire Óg intermediate football team.

A former County Roscommon senior footballer and captain has returned to manage his native club.

Éire Óg GAA Club, last year’s beaten intermediate football finalists, has announced that former Roscommon full-back, Pat Doory, will manage the team in 2023.

In a post on social media, the club said that “Pat has been synonymous with the Éire Óg club since its formation in 1984” and that he had “a proud tradition playing with the club and training various Éire Óg teams over the years”.

His greatest achievement as manager was in 2002 when he guided Strokestown to the Roscommon Senior Football Championship title.

Doory replaces Paul Hunt who managed the club in last year’s championship, which culminated in a county final defeat against St. Dominic’s.
