The Convent of Mercy senior girls’ football team who are in All-Ireland semi-final action this afternoon.

It has been a memorable week on the sporting front for the Convent of Mercy, and the school’s senior footballers will hope to maintain that momentum when they meet St. Mary’s of Magherafelt, Derry, in the Lidl All-Ireland Post Primary Schools’ Senior B championship semi-final this afternoon at Lisnaskea Emmets GAA Club in Fermanagh at 12.30 p.m..

A first senior rugby league title was quickly followed by All-Ireland junior honours on Saturday last, so David O’Reilly’s side will be hoping to complete a memorable hat-trick of big victories.

The Convent haven’t been in action competitively since winning their Connacht title in early January, but with players like Aisling Hanly, Erin McDermott, Hannah Murray, Aisling Shanagher, Siofra Hession and Shauna Walsh in their ranks, the Convent won’t be far away.

“They’re a great bunch, they’d do anything for you as a coach, and for each other, and I’ve no doubt that they’ll show up and put in a big performance. Hopefully, that will be enough,” said manager David O’Reilly.
