Castlecoote native Danni McCormack made history in the US on Wednesday after winning a major world title in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).
She became the first Irish woman to win a world Strawweight title at the Invicta Fighting Championships, which took place in Denver, Colorado.
The Shannon Knapp run all-female promotion is widely regarded as the number one promotion for fighters outside the UFC.
Danni, who now resides in Mullingar, upset the odds as she took the title from her Brazilian opponent, Valesca Machado.
She had to come through a bruising fight to win on an unanimous decision and the world title victory turned out to be the perfect birthday present as she turned 33 on Wednesday!
Danni’s historic achievement now opens up major possibilities for her, including a potential opportunity to fight in the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship).
