Seán, who passed away peacefully yesterday, in action at the Dublin Horse Show in the RDS last August.

The late Seán Moran.

The death has taken place of Crossna native, Sean Moran, who had been living with the incurable cancer, Multiple Myeloma, for more than a decade.

Seán passed away peacefully yesterday (Wednesday, March 22nd), surrounded by his loving family, in the tender care of the staff of St. Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin.

His illness never stopped him from living life to the full and he even participated in a horse-riding event at the Dublin Horse Show last August.

Seán had a lifelong love of horses and had set himself the task of competing in the event to raise money for the Irish Cancer Society. He came a very impressive fourth out of 15th on his horse despite his debilitating illness and his remarkable achievement made headlines in some national newspapers.

Seán was predeceased by his father, Tom, his mother, Agnes, and his brothers Paddy and Joseph. Beloved husband of Joan (née Moynihan) and dear father of Kim. Seán will be greatly missed by Joan, Kim and Kim’s husband Ross, by his sisters, May (Crossna); Bridie Plummer (London); Anna Sheerin (Cleen) and Rita Moran (Templeogue); by his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, extended family and a large circle of friends.

Funeral arrangements: Reposing at Shivnan’s Funeral Home, Ballyfarnon, Boyle,  today, Thursday (March 23) from 6 p.m. until 7.30 p.m. followed by removal to St. Patrick’s Church, Crossna, arriving at 8 p.m..
