The playground is located at Loughnaneane Park in Roscommon Town.

A contractor is being sought to carry out a full upgrade of the playground at Loughnaneane Park in Roscommon Town.

Roscommon County Council recently advertised the tender for the project, which will include the replacement of existing play equipment with new facilities. The new equipment will include swings, slides, climbing apparatus, merry go rounds and see- saws.

The works will also involve a new asphalt surface and the installation of new fencing and kerbing, along with landscaping. The council’s tender on the Government’s e-tenders website notes that the refurbishment of the playgrounds will be subject to funding. Interested parties have until June 9 to respond to the tender invitation.

Last week, the project received €80,000 under the Community Recognition Fund to resurface the park and replace the play pieces.

Meanwhile, the Convent of Mercy Secondary School in Roscommon Town is seeking to carry out a refurbishment of its Home Economics room and Science Lab. Invitations to tender for the project was advertised earlier this month on the Government’s e-tenders website.
