Fun-filled weekend to celebrate the opening of the St. Croan’s Tom Quinn Memorial Pitch

Cian Revins, Joe Cunnane, Freddie Kelly, Rory Kelly,Hugh Smyth, and Daragh Kelly with the late Tom Quinn.

A family fun filled weekend will be held on Saturday, June 8th and Sunday, June 9th in Ballintubber to celebrate the official opening of the St. Croan’s Tom Quinn Memorial Pitch.

Tom, at the time of his passing, was president of St. Croan’s GAA Club. He held that position with enormous pride and, as a tradesman all his working life, took great interest in the many developments back as far as 1965 when the club acquired the original field, ensuring the drainage was of a high standard.

He was a true gentleman and represented St. Croan’s GAA Club not just locally, but with his many trips to Croke Park and to Cork to visit his brother Pat who was president of the Nemo Rangers club - very fitting.

On Saturday, June 8th at 6 p.m. the club will remember and celebrate Tom’s life with his family and friends on this special evening.

Over the last 20 years the club grounds have continued to develop, from the acquisition of eight acres adjacent to our grounds in 2009 the club developed a new all-weather Prunty pitch, the construction of a new stand and clubrooms, the establishment of a club gym and now the completion of a second all-weather pitch and a new digital scoreboard.

On Saturday, June 8th there will be a free family fun day with something for everyone to get involved with. The day will commence with a pitch blessing at 2 p.m. following by a Go Games Blitz. At 6 p.m. the official opening of the Tom Quinn memorial pitch will take place. The true competitive side of will community will emerge in the Flying Pigs Competition with a prize of €500 up for grabs. Then all will dance the night away to the Bad Ass Boogie Band. This will be a day of guaranteed laughs and memories.

Michael English will close out the weekend’s festivities on Sunday, June 9th supported by the Frank Nelson Band from 8 p.m.. Tickets are available to be purchased on the club’s social media accounts.
