Man (20s) arrested after gardaí seize €290k worth of cocaine and prescription tablets in Dublin

Gardaí have seized approximately €290,000 worth of controlled drugs following searches in Dublin on Wednesday.
The seizures were made by members attached to the DMR South Central Divisional Drug Unit who intercepted a van in Dublin south inner city.
A search of this van resulted in the recovery of 1.2kg of suspected cocaine with an estimated value of €84,000.
The driver of this van, a man aged in his 20s, was arrested and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 in a Garda Station in the Dublin Metropolitan Region.
Follow-up searches were conducted at a premises in the Dublin 12 area by the DMR South Central Divisional Drug Unit assisted by members attached to the Serious Crime Units in Kevin Street and Kilmainham Garda Stations.
During the course of these searches a further 3kg of cocaine with an estimated value of €210,000 and prescription tablets with an estimated value of €5,000 were recovered.
A man, aged in his 30s, was arrested for Section 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977/84 and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 in a Garda Station in the Dublin Metropolitan Region.
Gardaí said investigations are ongoing.
