A County Roscommon woman has made history by becoming the first ever female president of the Irish Limousin Cattle Society Council.

Ann Hester from Meelickaduff, Castlerea was elected president at a meeting of the Limousin Cattle Society Council this week.

She represents the North West Club area. Ann and her family (husband Michael and children Marie and Owen) run the Meelickaduff herd. The family regularly attend society sales. At the October Premier Sale this year a homebred heifer calf Meelickaduff Take on Me sold for €5,500. This heifer is the reigning North West Calf Champion 2023 and the Overall Limousin Champion in Elphin and Castlerea 2023.

In 2017, Meelickaduff Honda Et was Supreme Limousin Champion at the National show, and also the RDS Champion of champions.

Ann regularly stewards at society sales and will be in attendance at the upcoming sale on this Saturday, December 9th in Athenry.
