Outgoing MEP Luke ‘Ming’ Flanagan is considering a presidential bid when the incumbent Michael D. Higgins finishes his second term in Áras an Uachtaráin next year.

Speaking to RTÉ today at the Euro count centre in Castlebar today, the Castlerea native, who will comfortably retain his MEP seat, indicated his interest in running for the Áras.

The current president Michael D. Higgin, who was re-elected for a second term in October 2018, will finish his time in office in 2025.
