One of County Roscommon’s most highly-regarded GAA officials will hit the ground running in 2024.

Dermot Lyons will be patrolling the sideline with his native club before officiating at an intercounty match less than 24 hours later on the first weekend in January.

Lyons is part of the Castlerea St. Kevin’s intermediate football management team that will lock horns with Cill na Martra from West Cork in the All-Ireland club football semi-final on Saturday, January 6th, at Laois Hire O’Moore Park, Portlaoise, at 2.30 p.m..

Then, on Sunday, January 7th, Lyons will be the referee for the Connacht FBD clash between Mayo and London at the University of Galway Connacht GAA Air Dome, which gets underway at 1 p.m..

One of Lyons’ linesmen for the match in The Dome will be Ian Monaghan from St. Brigid’s who are in All-Ireland club senior football semi-final action against Castlehaven from Cork on the same day.
