Roscommon woman helps DCU retain O’Connor Cup

A Roscommon footballer has helped DCU retain their O’Connor Cup crown.
Aisling Hanly kicked a point as DCU secured a three in a row of titles as they overcame UCC 2-11 to 1-9.
Hanly kicked a crucial score in the second half as UCC threatened to turn the tables after losing out to DCU in last year’s final.
Meanwhile, St. Croan’s Ella Thompson was part of the Mary Immaculate College side that defeated UCD in the Giles Cup.
Tipperary’s Nessa Towey was also part of the victorious Mary Immaculate winning team. She is the granddaughter of St. Croan’s Club President Patricia Towey. The Limerick college emerged 3-9 to 1-8 winners over UCD.
Northern Harps’ Lauren Shanagher was part of the UCD side that lost out to MTU Cork in the Lynch Cup final.
Shanagher kicked three points in her side’s 3-10 to 0-6 defeat.
