Kate Nolan (right) and her sister Marian spearheaded St. Brigid's charge for senior ladies' football championship glory against Clann na nGael.

Kate Nolan — who hit 1-9 for St. Brigid’s during their 4-12 to 1-9 triumph against Clann na nGael — has revealed that her team-mates made a pact that they were going to be successful, no matter what, in Ballyleague on Saturday afternoon.

Brigid’s had been overturned in last year’s final by their southern neighbours, despite leading by 2-5 to 1-1 at half time.

On Saturday, they were 2-5 to 0-4 ahead — an eerily similar scoreline — but, with the lessons absorbed from 12 months ago, Brigid’s powered their way to victory.

Of course, it helped that Nolan was available, having missed last year’s final through injury.

“We knew what happened last year. We were up by something similar at half time in that game. We just focussed on the next score at half time. No way were we coming out of here without a win today,” she said.
